It's impressive how actors are capable of portraying a character so repulsive that everyone feels convinced the person is bad. Every character plays an essential role to the overall being of the show, and not just the story. I found the element I like the most was the recurring theme of unquestionable loyalty or what I like to call is not having an opinion, backbone, or individuality. An experiment I learned in Psychology and Philosophy years ago called the Stanford prison experiment highlights how generally the majority accepts giving and taking abuse. Although, it's a relief that there will always be the small few who defies tyranny in this world and the next. This short clip below shows the graceful hand of Tyrion Lannister declaring justice over the wicked.

I am indeed well overdue on keeping up with shows (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, etc.) but I still like to reminisce about the old ones. :) Took a break from movies, and watching shows I still need to catch up on like Firefly. Reverting back to my anime watching mood was a very rewarding experience with this treat of a story. I am now completely obsessed with Deadman Wonderland after watching a complete marathon viewing, that I have decided to really dissect the story, characters, and just about every fun element I felt inspiring. This story is all sorts of crazy with a little bit of Battle Royale.
A new show about two Russian spies living in America with a family, but struggles against counter intelligence. So far, I find the pilot episode to be very intriguing and I anticipate it to be as witty as the other show I follow called White Collar. You can see how literally down and dirty agents have to be just to get a hold of precious information on a lead. There are awkward moments such as the mall scene that get me wondering on how it progresses the story, but perhaps it is essential for character development in the bad ass fight scene that comes later. Spies in general intrigue me, because they are pretty much actors that are acting not only to serve their country but to save their own life. Defecting from your country of allegiance is usually a death sentence, and whether it is performing degrading tasks to burning crosses for Hitler who you are spying on, it is best not to get caught by raising suspicion. I love how they portrayed the Russian woman as being loyal and very strong for Soviet Mother Russia, while her male counterpart started to grow weak. I highly recommend this, and I am anxious to keep up with this series progression.
Many scenarios play out in this series which lead to endings that are quite depressing. Probably even more depressing than the ending of School Days which is sad, but well-deserved... "I've had great success in curbing the chronic masturbator." - Sister Jude
This series was very puzzling with a lot of new events introduced ranging from a guilty past to issues of trust. The amount of paranormal anomalies,extra-terrestrial activities, and sexual encounters that occur is so much that I never thought they would converge together at the same time. It's so odd, but it does a particularly great job in finding the fears inside all of us...and that is the fear of the unknown. I am more amazed of the side references mentioned such as B.F. Skinner's Positive Reinforcement and Charles Laughton starring as Nero in the film Sign of the Cross. (Laughton was the director of one of the most psychological horrifying films in cinema called Night of the Hunter). The many cross-references such as these are an homage to psychology and history of horror all in one. I am very impressed by the show so far, and would highly recommend it. I will keep updating on any shows I see since I have plenty of free time. Definitely was my favorite on the show, and she sang two songs I loved spectacularly. (Iris by Goo Goo Dolls and Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol). She is only 13, and has a great deal of potential. I can sense so much passion in her soul through her eyes. Such a shame! Simon will always be the one everyone hates on the show, but him telling Beatrice that it's not the right time makes him look like an incompetent judge for the show. Beatrice's age does not affect her ability to sing any better than anyone else in the competition. Next time, words of encouragement might be a favorable alternative to his future criticism. People have said that the "Big Mushroom War:" was a nuclear war. I can firmly believe that, and my thoughts on the matter if pertaining to reality would be that this was the "Cold War". This reality possibly did not have Mikhail Gorbachev to alleviate the conflict. Tensions may have been high between the U.S. and Russia that we nuked each other at the same time. Nuclear radiation formed many mutations killing a lot of people over time. Perhaps, the remaining survivors all survived because of magic. I am just guessing , but I believe when Jake's dad mentions that he fought along with Lady Rainicorn's dad before the mushroom war, it was an allusion to the "Korean War" when the Soviet Union ordered by Joseph Stalin kept encouraging North Korea to attack South Korea. Jake's dad represents the U.S. aiding South Korea or Lady Rainicorn's dad which had conflicted interests between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. This hypothesis came to mind, because Lady Rainicorn speaks Korean so I would assume her family origin follows the same lines. My theory for the Ice King is that he is of Russian origin which makes sense to me, because he is a misunderstood "villain" who is warm at heart. Heck! America and Russia were the best of allies against a greater evil known as Nazi Germany. In a few Adventure Time episodes, Finn and Jake team up with the Ice King in order to battle a greater evil. Russia being the coldest country certainly matches the cold powers he possesses. He mentions in a tape that he purchased the magic crown from a dock worker in Northern Scandinavia. Not so far from Russia, and he may have traveled around while studying to be an antiquarian. (a specialist in the knowledge of ancient artifacts). Again, magic is a theme in Adventure time that works so well in giving explanations. Perhaps German planes invading Russia during World War II?
Just finished watching the episode, and my first impressions are quite positive starting out an exciting year of Halloween. First off, some couples deserve to die when they show affection in a public area known to be haunted. With that said, I just loved how the creepy girl in the beginning was introduced. The way she looked felt like it came from a fairy tale like Rumpelstiltskin, but in a weird cute sort of way like Dobby. (By no means is she friendly like Dobby). The quote , "She drowned her sister and cut off her ears" was interestingly shocking to start out describing characters in the dialogue. I suppose it was not too bad they re-used characters like the previous Tate, and gave him a more significant mature role. Maybe it was just me thinking this, but a lot of the characters were perverted and horny. The first episode raises many questions I would like to see more into like the aliens, motives of the crazy doctor, and what happens to the people being wrongfully held in the institution. Give me more!
