So far so good in my progression for understanding screenwriting and independent film. My professor is so awesome that he gave me some reads he got at the Sundance Film Festival which he attended last week. I did not get to meet him last week, but Professor Rob Goald really knows his stuff ! I think it is excellent when he quotes people like Woody Allen and Howard Hawks. This semester I have to complete a 25 page script, oral presentation on a director I am interested in (Woody Allen), and so much more that I am excited for ! The world always seems to fall into place where you want it in life if you ask nicely. God is good. :) On another note, he recommended the film "Beast in the Southern Wild" which was screened at the Sundance Film Festival and won best picture. Interesting facts, the most expensive art form is architecture and second is film.
The elderly driving is a shady area for me, but old people with guns just makes me think of "Gran Torino."
Words cannot express how happy I feel right now. I cannot believe I am certified to saves lives, but of course I also get a job to make money. This weekend was extremely exhausting, and I have not been on my computer or phone since Thursday. I could have messed around on my computer, but every time I got home from training I was too tired and just passed out. I never knew I was capable to dive in the deep end and save someone who is twice my size. This weekend may have been long, but I had the greatest time with all the new people I worked with to become licensed.
When I do something the first time I feel like I am about to get an anxiety attack every time. So far I eventually overcome it, but it is always that same feeling in my gut. Learning how to drive, learning how to ride a bicycle, and learning to cliff jump. I am not going to lie, people may think I am fearless but I get scared like everyone else. Right now, I am actually learning how to swim properly so that I may pass my examination to be a lifeguard. This feels as stressful as when I was learning to ride a bike, like if I lose balance I end up falling to the side or in wrestling when I do not focus and get slammed on my back or face. Heck, even cliff diving if you make a mistake you will land on your butt and feel it for a week. Either way, those experiences are very unpleasant but it does not mean we should give up. I put my pride to the side, and just ask for help. We can't just do everything on our own, and people should not be elitists to put people who want to learn down.
Sadly, no Coachella for me last year and this year. Well, I am just going to have a marathon of all their albums playing all night long for 3 days. On another note, I will see the Shins this year on April 13 at the Cosmopolitan. If I do not see them I will be so devastated...
I have to say that I love experiencing other cultures because seeing diversity makes everything fresh to me. We all seem to look parallel to lifestyle, foods, and traditions. Geography plays a huge role in what we eat and wear because resources are different worldwide. As humans, we also share similarities such as being social animals. We live to communicate and find acceptance, lets face it, no one wants to live without friends or even enemies for that matter because we need purpose in our lives. It was interesting seeing the male and female segregation within this Lohri. (Women to the left and men to the right.) I have actually read about this, but participating in this tradition came as a little shock. The party was very festive, and I enjoyed staying around a campfire with people dancing to music. I wish I took pictures of the earlier food which was really delicious, and I just could not stop drinking that Chai tea!
Ran out of episodes to watch for How I Met Your Mother, The Office, and New Girl. I also feel I improved my ability to play chess by adapting my styles to different openings. Not to sound like I am bragging, but I feel I have grown as an individual by disciplining myself. I committed a lot of time to working on my form and movement with my boxing, it feels really great. Self-training will only get me so far, so if I ever make some cash on the side maybe I will join a sambo/judo/boxing gym. Winter break was wonderful and stress free, actually feel excited to come back to school.
People take time for granted I noticed. I know I have, never actually really planned a firm schedule. I thought it was weird when my friend felt bothered that he left his watch which we wore all over the Middle East at home. Gonna really try to start sleeping early, and running those fresh mornings to start the day.
