I certainly forget to update my site when life starts being exciting. If I had to point out one interesting similarity between young and old people is that they both love to gossip. My dad introduced me to his friends, and they seemed to take a liking to me. I overheard them speaking Tagalog saying, "Why is your son handsome, but you are ugly" to my dad. It felt a bit awkward when they asked me if I understood Tagalog, and I said yes. Breakfast was great even though I felt shy the whole time near them. On the other hand with my youthful co-workers, that certain girl seems to get along with me more than the female workers. She explains to me that they complain about working because they are lazy. I am developing a liking to her hard work ethic, which is just friendly if you are wondering. My bosses always checks up on me because they say I work too hard. I would feel like I was bragging if I told them the fun sports I do were more tiring. Another interesting rumor I heard from my co-workers was that they think the shy girl co-worker is creepy and weird when she was not working today. I am already feeling like I am in a sit-com like the "Office." Besides work, I actually had some quality time with my dad instead of going to the movies. When it was time to walk the dogs, my dad was like, "Lets go to City View Park where you use to train for Cross Country." I was actually looking forward to it, because it has been so long and that was my favorite place to run. Took a picture of my work from my Uncle's suite in the Bellagio during his birthday.
Got my set schedule yesterday and I feel quite fortunate. Many of my co-workers are on-call or have half the hours I have. I work Tuesday from 9am-7pm, Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday 9am-7pm, and Saturday 9am-5pm. My only day off is Sunday, so if I am not doing a 10 hour shift I will be at school. At least I will not be tempted to sleep in, and feel lethargic like I have done in the past. I do think I have gotten on everyone's good side with my subtle humor which I actually am unaware of most of the times. Another interesting fact at work, a girl introduced herself and said she started college at the age of 14. I first met her when I went to human resources to take a picture for my badge, then we both walked to the fitting room to receive our uniforms. She is also the same girl with a marvel heroes bag who sat behind me. I know what everybody may think, she is a liar and a nerd who likes superheroes. I completely agree, nerds and liars are no fun to talk to so I will leave it at that. On a less depressing note, the super awesome non-weaboo anime expo convention is not too far away and I may be attending it since I will have money. If Coachella would have waited for me, I would be going to that instead but I AM ALL OVER THAT!
Got to meet the many people I will be working with, and I must say I am pleased. Finally made money today as well for giving ten hours of my time. Another interesting fact, my lifeguard instructor who helped me get certified transferred to where I will be working as the new lead lifeguard. I keep bumping into him at the gym at UNLV. It is just so unavoidable to make friends if you are trying to better yourself as a person. I can see why certain people I know go crazy, because they always have to put a smile on their face working for big companies. Fortunately it comes natural for me, and I do it all the time but this time I get paid for it. The benefits are just too good working for this company which include free food, discounts, and healthcare. My boss is one of the nicest people I have met, and she acts really humble which is a trait I admire from anyone. I actually was running late for the meeting, but she understood my situation when I told her about it on the phone. So when I got to my job, that was the time I surprisingly saw my instructor and I was walking with both him and my supervisor at the same time. It was an interesting experience because they knew each other, and they both acted welcoming towards me like actual friends. While they were teasing each other of the past because my instructor actually helped certify my supervisor, I was relieved that I felt wanted in this working environment. Best part of the day was when it was time to eat, because I am such a fatty.
No matter how terrible Street Fighter x Tekken is. If it had my beauty and the beast team, I don't think I would care...PLEASE!!!WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG!
Yes, it is official that I am working, starting Thursday of next week. This morning I was waiting at the Starbucks inside the Luxor before I had to go to human resources for employee processing. It gave me such a relaxing time to formulate more ideas for my script, and I feel I found another direction that is better. Well, when I finally finished with all the paperwork I was able to head over to my job and get a uniform and locker. It was actually a real "cluster fluff" because they sent me without an I.D. so I had to go to another human resources to get my picture taken. When that was all done it became smooth sailing. I got two pairs of uniforms and my locker seems so high-tech because I have to use my I.D. for the machine to rotate through all the other lockers. After I got my work out of the way, my dad wanted me to pick up the rundown Ford Escort we have that did not pass the smog check at the mechanic shop. "Find the good story and tell it" - Howard Hawks
Yesterday my job called me to congratulate me for getting the job, and they scheduled an appointment for me to get fully integrated into their system this coming Tuesday. I have to bring my driver's license, CPR-AED card, and Lifeguarding/First-Aid for the New Hire Processing. After that is all done, I have an orientation on the next Tuesday for a tour around the whole building. I am actually pretty excited, not for the job but to meet new people and yes, to finally make some money...Today, I called the front desk where I got certified and they said my cards were ready so I picked them up. I was pretty disappointed to find out that the cards were stapled together and that they were made of pretty fragile material. I ended up going to Office Max and getting them laminated which made them turn out great! I finally got started with a general idea of what I want to write about, but I won't reveal anything just yet except the title. It is called "There Was No Flash Because My Life Sucks." Almost forgot to mention that I need to bring my Social Security Card too...speaking of that. I was considering laminating it, until I read on the back "Do not laminate this card."
I am pretty stubborn when it comes to going to the hospital. My belief is that I have a strong healthy body, and my immune system should be able to fight viruses and bacteria pretty efficiently with plenty of fluids and rest. The only time I finally decide to get checked is when my performance in working out, and ability to learn is inhibited. Today, I visited the hospital and was diagnosed with Strep Throat which is a common bacterial infection of the throat. I would have diagnosed it earlier on WebMd, but my body just felt too tired and I had one of the worst headaches. The Indian doctor prescribed me antibiotics, which I cannot wait to receive...
