I remember watching a television show called Hoarders, and every house was absolutely repulsive. I know most people who face this problem have OCD most of the time, but I think the number one issue is people forgetting to take care of themselves. I think negative effects to these conditions can be attributed to greed. If one day my house were to burn down, I would be sad that I lost all my belongings. Although, the safety of myself and my family will always be priority. For me personally, I think it is okay to collect in moderation of material things that remind you of great stories or experiences. An aspect of life is appreciating the work many people share to others. I'm all about bringing people together with a common interest. I can't consider myself a hoarder, because I end up giving away the things I like to receive the things I love, which is happiness with people. All material possessions in this world are pointless, except that it is given value by a group to be the illusion of happiness. A show that I think is similar to Hoarders would be MTV Cribs. Some people don't see it that way, because the celebrities have "things" other people below them in this capitalistic hierarchy thinks would make them happy. When the truth is that everything is junk if there is no one to share it with.
